From outsourced to in control: How Enfinity took charge of operations & maintenance (O&M) for 6 solar sites

With real-time inventory visibility and tracking in Ventory, Enfinity replaced third-party dependency with in-house O&M, reduced outages and increased effective availability by 6-7% across its Western USA portfolio.

The Challenge

Enfinity is a global renewable energy company that develops, manages and operates utility-scale solar power plants across the USA, Japan, India and Italy. Every minute of downtime means lost energy and lost revenue. So every site needs careful planning, maintenance and preparedness.

The Western USA portfolio alone counts 6 sites with a combined 130 MW. Nadim Atallah, Asset Manager for the Americas, found that a lack of real-time visibility and control over spare parts was holding back further gains in site uptime and effective availability.

  • Reliance on a third-party O&M provider: Site operations and maintenance, including all related inventory, sat with an external provider. Their field expertise was valuable. But depending on them for critical daily work like urgent repairs and spare parts purchasing was not ideal.
  • No real-time visibility of spare parts: The provider managed spare parts in its own systems. Enfinity had no live view of what was available or what had been consumed in the field. Reports came in, but without real-time data.
  • Shortages from reactive purchasing: The provider bought parts as needed, with no proactive planning or forecasting. That left sites exposed to downtime whenever a part for an urgent repair was missing.
  • Downtime with substantial revenue losses: When production equipment failed, a shortage of low-value parts ($100-$500) could cause very costly downtime while the provider sourced a replacement.
  • Extended outages in peak season: Solar output peaks in summer. So do equipment failures, driven by the heat. A missing part in summer meant outages of days or even weeks, lost prime energy harvesting time and substantial revenue losses.

Enfinity wanted to control its own destiny. The goal: proactive spare parts management and full operational control with in-house O&M.

The Solution

Ventory gave Enfinity scalable, real-time inventory management with full visibility and tracking of its field inventory. Enfinity deployed Ventory across its Western USA sites in June 2025. With live data in hand, the team took control and started proactive inventory planning. By February 2026, those sites had moved to fully in-house O&M instead of relying on the third-party provider.

  • All inventory activities on 1 platform: Enfinity runs Ventory across 25 sites in the USA (6 Western USA sites + 19 smaller locations). Real-time stock visibility drives proactive, data-driven purchasing and planning to avoid critical part shortages.
  • Rapid, scalable setup and intuitive design: The field-friendly mobile app made onboarding fast. Technicians were operational after just 2 hours of training. That paved the way for plans to expand Ventory to sites in Eastern USA, Japan and Italy.
  • Automated replenishment alerts and triggers: Minimum stock levels and automated alerts flag when critical inventory runs low. Enfinity avoids the substantial losses of outages caused by part shortages.
  • Transaction data and dashboards: Real-time and historical data for stock, orders and transactions is easy to access. This made proactive in-house inventory planning and O&M possible, replacing the reliance on the third-party provider.
  • Digitalized cycle counts: Enfinity used Ventory's cycle count module to baseline what was actually on hand at go-live. Full inventory visibility from day 1, and better stock accuracy from then on.
  • Responsive service support: During setup, Ventory's team answered every query within 5-7 hours. Deployment stayed fast and operations stayed smooth.
  • Multi-language platform: The setup and playbook Nadim built in Western USA is being replicated globally, in different languages. Ventory's team helped Enfinity set up the system in Japanese for its Japan operations.
  • API integrations ready: Enfinity's roadmap includes an API integration between Ventory and its existing NetSuite ERP to further optimize data flows.
Future Plans

The playbook built in Western USA is being replicated across Enfinity's global portfolio.

  • Further expansion: Ventory rollout planned for Enfinity sites in Eastern USA, Japan and Italy.
  • NetSuite API integration: A planned API link between Ventory and Enfinity's NetSuite ERP to optimize data flows.
  • Efficiency target: A +2% efficiency gain across all sites by 2027.

Without Ventory

The van hunt
Compliance lag
The reporting burden

No visibility: Enfinity had no direct view of the spare parts on hand. A third-party O&M provider managed the inventory in its own systems, so Enfinity's asset manager could not see what was available.

Costly waiting: When equipment failed, especially in summer heat, the third-party provider had to source spare parts and send repair technicians. That took days or weeks and caused costly site downtime.

Data black hole: Spare parts usage was logged in the provider's own system. Enfinity's asset manager had to wait for the provider to fulfil its contractual tracking and replenishment duties and send reports.
